I just finished a 12 hour Barre teacher training, and let me tell you, if I wasn't already hooked, I totally am now. It is an amazing workout that will not only make you sweat, but will start to change and reshape your body. As a yoga teacher, I was looking for something that would compliment my yoga practice, and for me, this is it. Wondering what Barre is and what you can expect in your first class? Read on.

In Barre we work to strengthen and elongate the muscles resulting in a toned and lean body. We do tiny, isometric movements to isolate a muscle group paired with lots of reps. We work into all three of the muscle groups in the glutes, especially the ones that help "lift" the butt. We also work into our deep core, the transverse abdominals. These muscles are what help give us a strong midsection and keep us stable and strong. Additionally, we spend lots of time on the arms and legs.
Barre isn't for sissies, but you can do it! Be prepared to work your butt off all the while having lots of fun.
We will use a variety of props to help us work including bands, balls, and hand weights. You will need to bring your yoga mat. Typically, barre is practices barefoot.
Barre has become very popular and for good reason. This is one of the fastest and most effective way to change your body. It is low-impact, and has a combination of cardio and strength-training as well as stretching to increase flexibility.
